What to expect on this trip
This journey connects remote corners of South America in a way few itineraries can.
Created by White Desert under its Dr. Jones collection, it uses a privately operated, fully modernized vintage aircraft to move between locations that are otherwise difficult and time-consuming to reach. The result is not just efficiency, but continuity, with remote cloud forests, deserts, archipelagos, and Patagonian wilderness linked without commercial transit infrastructure.
Begin in Lima, staying in a restored early 20th-century mansion in the Barranco district, now one of the city’s most distinctive boutique properties. From here, fly north into the cloud forests of Chachapoyas, where Gocta Nature Reserve offers a quiet base near one of the tallest waterfalls in the Americas. The focus here is archaeological and ecological – pre-Inca burial sites hidden in cliffs, forest trails, and reserve-grown cuisine shaped by its surroundings.
Paracas shifts the setting dramatically. A temporary desert camp, built exclusively for this program, places you within an inland dune system far from conventional hotels. Time here centers on the coastal ecosystem: marine life, vineyard culture, and the stark geometry of wind-sculpted sand.
Cross into Chile and the Atacama Desert, where Tierra Atacama provides a design-forward lodge in one of the driest environments on earth. Salt flats, high-altitude lagoons, volcanic terrain, and astronomy experiences define this portion of the journey.
Chiloé introduces maritime culture and island architecture. Your stay overlooks Pullao Bay from a contemporary lodge inspired by the region’s traditional stilted wooden houses. The pace slows, with access to coastal landscapes and the archipelago’s distinctive heritage.
In Patagonia, a design-forward lodge serves as your gateway to Torres del Paine. Guided overland excursions explore glacial lakes, mountain viewpoints, and working estancias that preserve gaucho traditions.
Throughout, the aircraft removes the usual logistical friction between these regions. What would normally require multiple commercial connections becomes a single, cohesive arc across the continent.
This expedition suits travelers who prioritize rare access, architectural lodges in remote settings, and landscapes that demand effort to reach.
This expedition suits travelers drawn to seamless access to some of the world’s last hidden places, aviation-led exploration, and lodges that are destinations in their own right.
